A common screening test for Group 'C' posts of the Uttar Pradesh government. The PET score is used to shortlist candidates for the main exams of posts such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, Gram Panchayat Adhikari and many more.
UPSSSC notified PET 2026 under Advertisement No. 16-Exam/2026; applications closed on 7 September 2026. The exam, first planned for 23–25 October, will now be held on 25 October, 30 October and 1 November 2026 in two shifts (10 am–12 noon and 3–5 pm). Admit cards are due on or before 20 October 2026, and more than 35 lakh candidates are expected.
PET does not recruit anyone by itself: UPSSSC uses the score to shortlist candidates for the main examinations of its Group 'C' posts.
Most mock series skip the passage, graph and table sections because they need sets of five linked questions. PET has 100 objective questions for 100 marks in two hours, with 0.25 mark deducted for each wrong answer. These mocks reproduce all 15 sections in the official proportions — including two Hindi passages, two graphs and two tables per mock, each with five questions kept together — open in Hindi with an English switch, and never repeat a question across the 25 mocks. These 30 questions are the most predictable marks in the paper — read carefully and calculate neatly.
Ten questions come from recent events: appointments, awards, sports, schemes and summits.
General awareness often includes UP's geography, culture and schemes.
Percentages, averages and ratios also help with the graph and table sections.
0.25 is deducted for each wrong answer — avoid blind guesses.
