What is NEET UG?
NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test — Undergraduate) is the single, national-level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), it is the mandatory gateway to MBBS and BDS seats, and is also used for admission to AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS), veterinary (BVSc & AH) and several allied and nursing programmes.
A single NEET score is accepted by government medical colleges, private colleges, deemed and central universities, AIIMS and JIPMER institutes, and the armed forces medical services. Because one exam feeds every medical seat in the country, NEET is among the most competitive undergraduate exams in the world, with over two million candidates appearing each year for roughly a lakh MBBS seats.
