About the MCD exam

Fills Group B and C posts in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi — clerical, health, engineering and teaching posts — through DSSSB examinations.

About MCD recruitment through DSSSB

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi fills most of its Group B and C posts through the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board. DSSSB's 2026 schedule includes the MCD Assistant Public Health Inspector examination (post code 20/25) on 3 September 2026 and the Statistical Clerk examination (post code 19/25) on 19 October 2026.

General posts use DSSSB's one-tier paper of 200 questions across five areas; posts needing subject knowledge add a technical section.

How these mocks help

The mocks follow the 40 × 5 one-tier pattern exactly, with authentic Hindi grammar and English usage questions and freshly computed arithmetic and reasoning with explanations.

Each of the 25 mocks has its own questions, and topic tests let you focus on weak areas.

MCD eligibility & exam pattern

Check whether you meet the MCD eligibility criteria and understand exactly how the paper is structured and marked before you plan your preparation.

Eligibility criteria

Qualification
Depends on the post — for example Class 12 for clerical posts, a diploma or degree for technical posts, and D.El.Ed with CTET for primary teachers.
Age
Set for each post code in the advertisement (commonly 18–27 or 18–30 years), with relaxations as per rules.
Skill test
Clerical posts may require a typing test on computer, which is qualifying.
Applications
Online through the DSSSB portal against each advertisement.

DSSSB's general one-tier examination has 200 objective questions for 200 marks in two hours — 40 each from General Awareness, Reasoning, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, Hindi and English — with 0.25 mark deducted for each wrong answer. These mocks follow the same 40 × 5 split; Hindi questions are in Hindi, English questions in English, and the rest have a Hindi switch. No question repeats across the 25 mocks.

Duration: 120 minutes.

How to prepare for MCD

A proven, focused MCD preparation method — from building strong fundamentals to peaking with full-length mocks.

  1. 1

    Balance all five sections

Each area carries 40 marks — a weak section is hard to make up elsewhere.

  2. 2

    Prepare Hindi grammar thoroughly

Sandhi, samas, paryayvachi, vilom, muhavare and spelling form most of the Hindi section.

  3. 3

    Practise English error spotting

Grammar rules, synonyms, antonyms and voice/narration are steady marks.

  4. 4

    Keep arithmetic fast

Percentages, ratio, averages, interest and time & work dominate the numerical section.

  5. 5

    Know Delhi

General awareness can include Delhi's history, governance and current events.

  6. 6

    Pace yourself

Two hours for 200 questions is about 36 seconds a question — practise full-length mocks.

DSSSB one-tier examination structure

The general one-tier paper has 200 questions for 200 marks in two hours, 40 each from five areas, with 0.25 mark deducted for each wrong answer. Posts that need technical knowledge use a Section A (general, 100 marks) plus Section B (subject, 100 marks) paper instead.
