What is the Kerala Police Constable exam?
The Kerala Public Service Commission recruits Civil Police Officers — commonly called Police Constables — for the Kerala Police through a competitive objective written test followed by a Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Measurement. A strong written score builds a good rank, and candidates are then called in rank order to prove the physical standards before appointment. It is one of the most sought-after uniformed jobs in the state, drawing very large numbers of applicants for each notification.
The written test is a single objective paper whose syllabus is broad but predictable — General Knowledge and current affairs (with a strong emphasis on Indian polity and the Constitution and on Kerala administration and law-and-order awareness), general science, quantitative aptitude and mental ability, and a Malayalam language section, all pitched at the plus-two level. Because selection is rank-based, every mark on the written paper counts towards a place in the ranked list.
