About the Kerala PSC Plus Two Level Prelims exam

A common screening test for Plus Two (HSE) level posts such as Civil Excise Officer, Police Constable (Armed Police Battalion) and other departmental posts. Candidates above the cut-off are short-listed for each post's main examination.

What is the Kerala PSC Plus Two Level Prelims?

Kerala PSC screens candidates for Plus Two-level posts through one common preliminary test. Everyone who applied for these posts writes the same paper, and PSC then short-lists candidates post-wise for the main examinations.

Unlike the 10th Level Prelims, this paper includes a 20-mark General English part and a 10-mark regional-language part. General knowledge is spread evenly across ten 5-mark blocks, including a computer basics block.

How to clear the Plus Two Level Prelims

English and Malayalam together carry 30 marks and reward steady grammar and vocabulary practice. Maths and reasoning are another 20 marks you can make near-certain with drills on interest, work, clocks and calendars.

Spread your GK revision across all ten blocks rather than going deep on one — each is worth only five marks. Mind the 1/3 negative mark and attempt a question only when you can rule out at least two options.

How to prepare for Kerala PSC Plus Two Level Prelims

A proven, focused Kerala PSC Plus Two Level Prelims preparation method — from building strong fundamentals to peaking with full-length mocks.

  1. 1

    Secure the language parts

English and Malayalam carry 30 marks. Practise tenses, articles, prepositions, voice and speech, plus Malayalam spelling, sandhi, synonyms and idioms.

  2. 2

    Cover all ten GK blocks

Each block is only 5 marks. Revise every one — including computer basics and current affairs — rather than over-studying a favourite subject.

  3. 3

    Drill arithmetic and reasoning

Interest, ratio, time and work, clocks, calendars and coding are quick marks once you have the methods ready.

  4. 4

    Mind the negative mark

A wrong answer costs 1/3. Attempt when you can eliminate two options; skip blind guesses.

  5. 5

    Take full timed mocks

Sit complete 100-question mocks in 75 minutes. Every mock here has fresh questions — none repeat.
