A national recruitment exam that selects Probationary Officers (Management Trainees) for public-sector banks that participate in the IBPS Common Recruitment Process, held once a year.

What is the IBPS PO exam?

IBPS PO is the Common Recruitment Process run by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to recruit Probationary Officers (also called Management Trainees) for the public-sector banks that participate in it. A Probationary Officer is an entry-level officer who, after a probation period, handles banking operations, customer service, credit and administration, with a clear path to managerial roles. It is one of India's most sought-after government-job exams, drawing lakhs of graduate applicants each year for a limited number of vacancies.

Selection has three stages: a qualifying Preliminary exam, a decisive Main exam (objective plus a short descriptive paper), and a personal Interview. Prelims tests English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning under tight sectional timing; Mains adds General/Banking Awareness, Computer Aptitude and heavier Data Analysis & Interpretation.
