About the IBPS Clerk exam

A national recruitment exam that fills clerical-cadre posts in the participating public-sector banks through a Common Recruitment Process (CRP). The State Bank of India is not part of IBPS and recruits separately.

What is the IBPS Clerk exam?

IBPS Clerk is the Common Recruitment Process (CRP) conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to fill clerical-cadre vacancies in the participating public-sector banks — such as Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India and others. The State Bank of India runs its own clerk recruitment and is not part of IBPS. Because it needs only a graduate degree and offers a stable banking career, IBPS Clerk is one of the most sought-after government recruitment exams in India, drawing lakhs of applicants each cycle.

The selection has two online stages and no interview. The Preliminary exam is a 1-hour, 100-question paper across English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability, with a 20-minute sectional time limit; it is only qualifying. Candidates who clear it sit the Main exam — a 160-minute, 190-question paper covering General/Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude and Quantitative Aptitude. Final merit and provisional bank allotment are based on the Main score together with the candidate's language proficiency.

How to clear IBPS Clerk

    Read the official pattern first, then make a realistic subject map for 4 subjects. Begin with Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language. Focus on concepts before speed.
