What is the ESIC UDC exam?
ESIC Upper Division Clerk (UDC) is the Employees' State Insurance Corporation's recruitment exam for clerical-cadre posts in its own establishment — the headquarters, regional and sub-regional offices, ESIC hospitals, model hospitals and dispensaries spread across the country. A UDC handles day-to-day dealing, record-keeping, correspondence and data work that keeps the ESI social-security machinery running, so the exam draws large numbers of graduate aspirants seeking a stable Central Government clerical career.
The selection has three parts: a Preliminary examination, a Main examination and a computer skill test. The Prelims is an objective, 100-question paper of 100 marks across four equal sections — General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. Because it has negative marking of one-fourth a mark for every wrong answer, accuracy under time decides your Prelims score, and clearing the Prelims cutoff is what earns you a place in the Mains.
