CUET UG Mock Tests, Syllabus & Complete Exam Guide

CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test — Undergraduate) is a national, computer-based entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission to undergraduate programmes. It was introduced to replace the many separate entrance exams and merit lists that universities used to run, so a single score can be used to apply to central universities and a large number of state, deemed and private universities at once. It is now one of India's largest entrance exams by number of candidates.

The test is built in sections: languages, domain-specific subjects (27 or more, such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, History, Political Science and Economics), and a General Test of aptitude. You don't take all of it — you choose a combination that matches the course you want. Each question is marked +5 for correct and −1 for wrong, and because the exam runs in multiple shifts, NTA normalises scores so candidates across shifts are compared fairly.

Two parts are almost universal: a language (most students take English) and, for many courses, the General Test. English rewards steady reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary; the General Test rewards general knowledge, basic numerical ability and logical reasoning done quickly and accurately. For domain subjects, CUET closely follows the NCERT Class 12 syllabus, so strong board preparation transfers directly — the difference is exam-style speed and the negative marking.

Because +5/−1 marking punishes careless mistakes heavily, accuracy under time is decisive. Practising exam-style questions in English, general knowledge, numerical ability and reasoning builds the speed and judgement to know when to attempt and when to skip. Timed full mocks develop stamina and shift-style pacing; use topic tests to turn each weak area — data interpretation, coding-decoding, comprehension — into a reliable source of marks.
