What is the COMEDK UGET?
COMEDK UGET is the Undergraduate Entrance Test conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka for admission to the undergraduate engineering (B.E./B.Tech) seats in its member private colleges across Karnataka. It is a computer-based test taken by candidates from Karnataka and other states, since COMEDK seats are open across India. A single, normalised score from the test decides a merit rank, and that rank is what candidates carry into counselling.
The paper is a 3-hour, 180-question test with three equal sections — Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics — of 60 questions each, one mark per question. Crucially, there is no negative marking, which changes strategy: because a wrong answer costs nothing, you should attempt every question rather than leave any blank. After results, admission happens through a centralised online counselling round where seats are allotted on the basis of rank, branch and college preferences, category and availability.
