What is the CMAT exam?
The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national-level entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to AICTE-approved MBA and PGDM programmes across India. It gives management aspirants a single, standardised score that a large number of business schools accept, so one test can open doors to many institutes rather than requiring a separate exam for each.
CMAT is a three-hour computer-based test of 100 questions worth 400 marks, spread over four compulsory sections of 25 questions each — Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness — plus an optional Innovation & Entrepreneurship section. Every correct answer earns 4 marks and every wrong answer costs 1 mark, so accuracy and smart section management decide your percentile, and that percentile is what institutes shortlist on.
