What is the APSC CCE exam?
APSC CCE is the Combined Competitive Examination conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission, headquartered at Jawaharnagar, Khanapara, Guwahati. It is the gateway to gazetted administrative careers in the Government of Assam — posts such as Assam Civil Service (Junior Grade) / Deputy Collector, Assam Police Service (Deputy Superintendent of Police), Superintendent of Taxes, Block Development Officer and many other Class I and Class II cadres are filled through a single competitive exam each year.
The selection runs across three stages. The Preliminary exam is an objective, OMR-based General Studies paper that decides who advances, and it commonly carries no negative marking. Those who clear it sit the descriptive Mains, which includes General Studies papers, an Essay, a language paper and an optional subject, and the process ends with a Personality Test (Interview). Final merit is built from the Mains written papers and the Interview — Prelims marks do not carry forward.
