APPSC Group I Mock Tests, Syllabus & Complete Exam Guide

APPSC Group I is the Combined Competitive Examination conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission for the state's most senior directly-recruited civil posts. It is the gateway to gazetted administrative careers in the Government of Andhra Pradesh — posts such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Commercial Tax Officer, Municipal Commissioner and District Registrar are filled through a single competitive exam.

The selection runs across three stages. The Preliminary exam is an objective, OMR-based screening test with two papers — General Studies and General Aptitude / Mental Ability — and carries a representative one-third negative marking. Those who clear it sit the descriptive Mains, and the process ends with a Personality Test (Interview). Final merit is built from the Mains written papers and the Interview — Prelims marks do not carry forward.

Prelims is a filter, so build strong, revisable foundations in Indian history, polity and governance, geography, the economy, general science, environment and current affairs. Because APPSC weights Andhra Pradesh heavily, a dedicated command of AP's history, heritage, rivers, geography, economy and culture is often what separates candidates near the cutoff. Practise the General Aptitude / Mental Ability paper too — reasoning and quantitative aptitude reward steady drilling.

The one-third negative marking rewards disciplined attempting: solve what you know, eliminate to a confident choice where you can, and leave questions you genuinely cannot judge. Full-length timed Prelims mocks train the pacing and section balance the paper demands.
