A cart starts at 0 m/s and accelerates uniformly at 6 m/s². How far does it travel in 4 s?
Solution: Δx = v₀t + ½at² = 0 + 48 = 48 m.
Masses of 3 kg and 5 kg hang on either side of a light, frictionless pulley. What is the magnitude of their acceleration? (Use g = 10 m/s².)
Solution: a = (m₂ − m₁)g/(m₁ + m₂) = 2 × 10 / 8 ≈ 2.5 m/s².
A ball is released from rest 20 m above the ground. Ignoring air resistance, how fast is it moving just before it hits the ground? (Use g = 10 m/s².)
Solution: mgh = ½mv² ⇒ v = √(2gh) = √(2 × 10 × 20) = 20 m/s.
Two skaters, of masses 10 kg and 70 kg, stand at rest and push off each other. The 10 kg skater moves away at 2 m/s. How fast does the other skater move?
Solution: Total momentum stays zero: 10 × 2 = 70 × v ⇒ v = 0.29 m/s.
A 29 kg child sits 0.5 m from the pivot of a seesaw. How far from the pivot, on the other side, must a 47 kg child sit to balance it?
Solution: Torques balance: 29 × 0.5 = 47 × d ⇒ d = 0.31 m.
What is the period of a simple pendulum of length 2.5 m? (Use g = 10 m/s².)
Solution: T = 2π√(L/g) = 2π√(2.5/10) = 1π s.

Since 2024-25 AP Physics 1 has 40 multiple-choice questions in 80 minutes and 4 free-response questions in 100 minutes, each section worth 50%. The course has eight units, with fluids (10–15%) moved in from AP Physics 2. These mocks cover Section I across all eight units and state g = 10 m/s² where needed. These mocks cover the full multiple-choice section (Section I); free-response questions are not included.
Duration: 80 minutes (Section I).
A proven, focused AP Physics 1 preparation method — from building strong fundamentals to peaking with full-length mocks.
Most force questions become simple once every force is drawn.
Recognise which conservation law applies before calculating.
Pressure, buoyancy and continuity are 10–15% of the exam.
AP exams are scored 1–5. The multiple-choice section is 50% of the score; the free-response section is the other 50%.
