The water cycle

AThe water on our planet is constantly on the move in a process known as the water cycle. Heat from the Sun causes water to evaporate from oceans, lakes and rivers, turning it into an invisible vapour that rises into the air.

BHigh in the cooler atmosphere, the vapour condenses into tiny droplets that form clouds. When these droplets grow heavy enough, they fall back to Earth as rain or snow. Much of this water eventually flows back to the sea, and the cycle begins again, ensuring a continuous supply of fresh water.
