Task 1 — Academic (min. 150 words, ~20 min)

The diagram below shows how paper is recycled. Describe the process. Stages: 1) Used paper is collected and sorted by type. 2) It is mixed with water and chemicals to form a pulp. 3) The pulp is cleaned to remove ink and glue. 4) It is pressed and dried into new sheets. 5) The sheets are rolled and sent to shops. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features.

Examiner tips

Describe the stages in order using sequencing language (first, next, after that, finally).
Use the passive voice, which suits process descriptions.
Add a one-sentence overview stating how many stages there are and that it is a cycle.
